The pitching matchup is exactly where I want to start with this UNDER. Drew Rasmussen has been a nightmare for New York, carrying an ERA below 2 and a WHIP below 1 across 11 regular-season appearances against the Yankees. He finished this season with an ERA under 3, then closed by carrying a no-hitter into the 7th against this lineup with 11 strikeouts. Gerrit Cole gives us the other half of the equation. He posted an ERA of 3 in three starts against Tampa Bay this year and owns a 3 ERA in 12 postseason starts with New York. The Yankees are also without Aaron Judge, which removes the most dangerous bat from an already difficult matchup. Rasmussen rarely hands out free traffic, and Cole has consistently handled this Rays lineup. With two starters capable of controlling the game and fresh October bullpens behind them, seven runs is asking for more offense than I expect. Game 1 should be tight and pitching-driven. Take the UNDER. 

Saturday 2* MLB O/U Play

Kent State +3

Kent State and Ohio meet on Saturday in Kent and the Golden Flashes have value catching points. Kent State comes in 2-2 and they look like a different team this season. They come in off a win against Ball State last week, as their defense has been stepping up. They allowed just 13 points to Ball State and they’ve allowed just 15 and 13 points in their two wins so far this season. They’re putting a lot of pressure on teams and they’re not letting up the big play, which has always been their Achilles heal. Offensively, QB Dru DeShields has been able to manage things well and his dual threat ability is making things difficult for teams. He ran for 81 yards last week and he’ll have the opportunity to find some gaps in the OU defense. Kent State will have their chances to steal control of this game. Grab the points. Back Kent State.

Saturday *RARE* 5* NCAAF ATS Play

Baylor +4.5

Baylor and Arizona State meet on Saturday and the Bears have the value. Baylor comes in 3-1 and they come in with a solid start defensively to the year. They are giving up just 13.0 ppg and they’ve looked sharp when it comes to forcing third down and long situations. They’re putting teams behind the sticks to start the drive and that’s what they’ll look to do here against ASU. We haven’t seen much from Arizona State as they are off a bye and they took down Kansas by just 7 prior to that. Baylor will control the ball offensively and they’ll frustrate Arizona State in this spot. Baylor has averaged nearly 30 ppg offensively and they’ve looked impressive with their tempo and big play ability. Back Baylor.

Saturday 4* NCAAF ATS Play

Central Michigan -6

Central Michigan and Akron meet on Saturday and the Chips have value. Akron fell to UNLV at home last week and they come in just 1-3 on the season. The Zips have really struggled on both sides of the ball, as they’re giving up over 31 ppg while scoring just 19.5. They’re in store for another long season and this CMU side will have a lot of success against them this week. Central Michigan has been at their best when they run the ball and we saw that two weeks ago when they rumbled for 339 yards against Wyoming in a win. While they couldn’t do much against Miami last week, they are going to run all over this Akron defense. Expect them to wear them down as this game goes on as they’ll get a big push up front. Saturday 2* NCAAF ATS Play

UNDER 49

Eastern Michigan and UMASS meet on Saturday and the Under is worth a move. This will be a sold out venue as UMASS remains unbeaten and continue their push toward the program’s first ever bowl game. UMASS has been a force defensively so far, allowing just 12.8 ppg so far. They’re come at teams with so many different packages and their ability to get the quarterback has been a huge difference maker. This will be a game that is very slow developing and we won’t see many big plays over the top. Expect both offenses to try and sustain drives, while working the run game in to chew the clock. Syracuse and Connecticut meet on Saturday at noon and the value is with the Orange. Syracuse is just 1-2 on the year and the bye week came at the perfect time for them. They’re far better than their record indicates and this is a UConn team that they are much better than overall. Syracuse’s QB Steve Angeli has thrown for 731 yards so far, but turnovers have been his struggle. He will be the difference maker here as this is a UConn defense that struggled mightily last week against Miami OH. Expect Syracuse to get out early and for them to keep their foot on the gas as they control this game. Back Syracuse.
