ASA WNBA play on Indiana Fever -10.5 at Toronto Tempo, 7pm ET - It’s not often you’ll find us laying double-digits in the WNBA, especially with a road team, but today we’ll make an exception with the Fever. Indiana isn’t in the ideal situation here coming off a big OT win over the Dream on Sunday, but they are fighting for the 4th or better seed in the playoffs and should be focused. Indiana is 4th in the playoff standings with a 23-12 SU record and trails the Aces by a .5 game who sit 3rd and only lead the Dream and Liberty by 1.5. Toronto on the other hand is 10-23 SU on the season and have currently lost 10-straight games. In this current streak of 10-games the Tempo have an average loss margin of minus -16.1ppg with 8 of those ten L’s coming by 10+ points. Conversely, the Fever are 9-2 SU in their last eleven games with an average +/- of plus +9.5ppg. Toronto ranks 13th in FG% defense and 10th in 3PT% D which spells disaster for them considering they are facing the best overall shooting team in the league (Fever 48.7%) and 2nd best 3PT% team at 39%. In two recent games against similar teams at the Fire and at the Storm, the Fever produced wins of 14 and 10-points. We feel the Tempo have clearly quit on the season and will lay the points with Indiana.
#969 ASA PLAY ON Detroit Tigers +125 over Pittsburgh Pirates, Tuesday at 6:40 PM ET - Fantastic underdog value in this one. The Tigers continue to be red hot at the plate and they got the job done again as they beat the Pirates yesterday. After that 8-5 win, Detroit is 10-6 in their last 16 games and the Tigers have scored an average of 6.8 runs per game in their last 18 games. Over the last 30 days, the Tigers have the #2 slugging percentage in the American League while the Pirates slugging percentage ranks dead last out of all 15 teams in the National League over the past month. The starting pitching match-up also favors the Tigers Tuesday. The Tigers Keider Montero is 4-2 with a 2.87 ERA since the All-Star break. He has been fantastic on the road this season with a 2.77 ERA and opponents are hitting only .156 against him in his road outings! The Pirates Braxton Ashcraft is off some solid outings in 2 of his 3 starts this month but he had a rough stretch his final 3 starts of July plus he has been hammered in each of his last two home starts. Ashcraft has now allowed 9 earned runs in 11 innings over his last 2 home starts. He has allowed 12 homers in his last 8 starts as well yet the betting markets still see his overall 12-5 record and 3.82 ERA this season. That being said, there is line value in fading him right now and we will do just that today! Detroit has won 17 of its last 22 road games. Conversely, the Pirates are mired in a 6-14 slump and we will grab the underdog value available with the Detroit Tigers in early Tuesday evening MLB action.
UEFA Champions League Qualifying Playoffs - #224205/224206 ASA PLAY ON Under 2.5 (-145) AEK Athens at Levski Sofia, Tuesday at 3 PM ET - This is the 1st Leg match-up and Levski Sofia has been great defensively in particular at home. Overall, they have not allowed a goal in 4 straight matches and have allowed a total of only 5 goals in their last 10 matches. In their last 6 matches at home they have allowed a total of only 1 goal! The Bulgarian side is already involved in league action and that helps them some here. AEK Athens certainly favored on the road for a reason yet they have played only 1 competitive match this summer as their league has not started yet. Note that in their 6 summer friendlies they did allow a total of only 5 goals. Playing in the Greek Super Cup, even though they lost on penalties, also helps in terms of getting them game-ready here. We anticipate a rather cagey first leg affair and note that Levski Sofia have the competitive edge but also are dealing with a few injuries and AEK Athens are playing a rare competitive road match outside of Greece and have not even begun their regular season yet. We see a 1-0 or 1-1 match at a maximum here. All factors considered, this is excellent value here with under the total of 2.5 in this Tuesday afternoon match-up.
